On Saturday 9th December 128 players competed in one of Belton Park Golf Club’s most anticipated competitions of the year, with the year’s beneficiary being Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. The Colin Elstone Bottle Charity AM-AM has been held for more than 30 years and has been organised by John Kirkup for the last three, and notoriously brings out the best in those competing with a great atmosphere and plenty of Christmas cheer. This year was no different which reflected in the 2 from 4 stableford format scores despite the frozen ground and freezing temperatures.
Before the presentation the Past Seniors Captain and ambassador for the Air Ambulance addressed the competitors, thanking them for their generosity and highlighted that the helicopters only remain in operation through donations alone and receive no other funding.
Club Captain Colin Mason thanked all the players for participating and presented Organiser John Kirkup with a small gift thanking him for all of his hard work coordinating another successful year.
8 prizes were up for grabs the top 3 were:
1st S Stuart, M Clarke, D Griffiths and N Strutt 84pts (on count back)
2nd D Hope, D Capindale, S Railton, K Roberts 84 pts
3rd J Wiggins, C Walton, M Dobson and G Mitchell 82 pts
Nearest the pin on the 4th was Adrian Allen and on the 17th Simon Denton.
