The Jack Whiteley Trophy began on Tuesday 28th with a Stableford 1 2 3 competition over the Ancaster Course. With the weather forecast looking less than promising 35 Seniors travelled from as far away as Northampton to play in the competition and were rewarded with a fine sunny morning although with a very cold wind.
Individual points from each of the rounds go towards the trophy with the best 6 individual scores being used to calculate the overall winner.
The competition on the day was very tight with the top 4 teams all recording 69 points but with a better back 9 the team of Alan Addis, Frank Overton & John Thompson came out winners; a nice birthday present for Alan.
1st Alan Addis, Frank Overton & John Thompson 69 points (count back)
2nd Alfie Kent, George Crowford & Ken Mail 69 points (count back)
3rd Phil Willcock, Alan Farmer & Colin Farrington 69 points (count back)
4th Tim Stubbs, Dave Dobney & Ken Reilly 69 points
5th John McNally, Barrie Stainton & Trevor Collis 64 points
6th Derek Little, Dave Langley & Willie Badraun 63 points (count back)
7th Nigel Beaumont, Nick Craft & Keith Brown 63 points
8th Norman Halliday, Andy Kettle & Garry Hill 61 points (count back)

A very warm welcome was given to Willie Badraun who a week ago suffered a facial injury that required 17 stitches; it takes a lot to keep him down.
The next round of the competition takes place on Tuesday 5th December with the format being a Pink Ball; draws for the competition take place at 07:45 & 08:15.
