Anna...Queen of Clubs
Belton Park Ladies Club Champion, Anna Clark

As Belton Park Ladies Club Champion of 2016, Anna Clark, represented the club in the England Golf Queen of Clubs Competition held at Lingdale golf course in July. There were 43 competitors from the clubs in the Midland area. Anna won the best nett prize with a score of 81-9=72. She will represent the club next year as our 2017 Ladies Club Champion.

More recently Anna and seven other Belton Park ladies attended the Lincolnshire Ladies Golf Association Autumn Silver Meeting at Boston Golf Club. On this occasion Anna was presented with the Elsham Centenary Salver as the winner of the gross competition. Our congratulations go to Anna for her consistent form.

The ladies section is continuing to enjoy a busy season competing for trophies and summer knockouts. They took to the road to Market Harborough Golf Club for their Travelling Trophy. Twenty nine ladies made the journey by various routes for this individual stableford competition. They received a warm reception on arrival from a lady member and the club’s ambassador. The course although hilly was very picturesque.

The winner on the day was the Lady Captain, Sue Hall on 35points on count back from Olga Ebsworth, 35points, third Sheila Mason 33 points with Denise Adams fourth on 32points ocb. Nicola Routledge took nearest the pin for the Bronze Division and Sue Mitchell for the Silver division. The prize for the best front nine went to Yvonne Bashford with 18points ocb and the best back nine Jean Sutcliffe 18points ocb.

Travelling Trophy

Twenty two pairs entered the Ladies Harrowby Cup greensome competition the week prior to the Travelling Trophy. This was played on the Ancaster course (holes 1-9 and 19-27). The scores reflected the excellent condition of the course. The winners with an impressive score of 45points were Sue Hall and Paula Marshall, Lady Captain and Lady Vice Captain, second Jane Renfrew and Jan Johnson on 39points with Shelley McClelland and Julie Hamer third 37points ocb.
