On Tuesday January 24th 27 Seniors took part in the 7th round of the Jack Whiteley Trophy over the Belmont course. The format for this round was a ‘Waltz’ with one to score on the 1st, two to score on the next hole and all three to score on the 3rd hole etc. Last weeks competition was played in relatively ‘warm’ conditions but this week we were plunged back into frosty weather and onto temporaries; bearing this in mind the scoring was exceptional.
st Tony Davies, David Dobney & George Crowford 91 points
nd Norman Halliday, Harry Paice & Philip Willcock 86 points
rd Mike Collins, Graham Secker & Michael Goodacre 82 points
th Steve White, David Jackson & Kenneth Mail 82 points
th Trevor Collis, Tony Noble & David Langley 80 points
th Bill Brogan, Fred Williams & Mansfield Barker 78 points
th B. N. Stainton, Howard Lockwood & Michael G J Bower 73 points
th David Martin, Alfie Kent & Frank Overton 70 points
th John McNally, Peter Brooks & John Thompson 65 points
Next Tuesday the format for the Jack Whiteley competition is an ‘Irish Rumble’ which should prove very interesting with the best score, second best and then third best scores counting on certain holes. The draw will be at 07:45 for the 1st groups so come along it will be great fun.
