The annual 4 club competition took place over 15 holes (1 – 4, 8 – 9 & 10 – 18) on what proved to be very dank morning. 40 members took to the course with a selection of 3 clubs and a putter to tame the course and conditions.
Score varied wildly with Stableford totals ranging from 14 to 30 points so some taming took place but most results came out in favour of the course!!!
Results on the day were tight at the head of the field with 7 scores within 3 points of each other.
1st Phil Wilcock 30 points
2nd Mike Monaghan 29 points (Count back)
3rd Nigel Beaumont 29 points (Count back)
Congratulations to our prize winners
The competition and prize giving was followed minced pies, sausage rolls & mulled wine; the effect of these refreshments set everyone up for the annual Carol Singing session. Paul Skelton & Andrew Cookson performed with their usual gusto to lead the Seniors in a selection of popular songs. As is tradition the session finished with the specially written by Andrew ‘The Twelve Days of Belton’ with praise for the quality of singing coming from the people in the Dining Room.
Alan Addis spoke of the contribution Curly had made to the Seniors and that the Carol Singing session was inspired by him. In recognition of this it was decided that the 4 Club Competition should be dedicated to Curly and that a new trophy be presented on an annual to the winner; Phil being the first.
In the build up to Christmas the Seniors competitions are ‘Out of the Bag’ with draws for playing partners taking place at 07:45 & 08:00 for the next 2 Tuesdays. There will also be the usual Thursday roll up with members meeting at the flag pole at 08:15; best get there early as the Seniors are raring to get started (Steve White please note!!)
