The increasingly popular Autumn Mixed Open was held at Belton Park Golf Club on Sunday, although in 2015, it was played for “The Gillam Trophy”. The Gillam Trophy is a magnificent trophy on permanent loan to the golf club in recognition of its close relationship with the RAF and the RAFA. The trophy commemorates the skill and bravery of Group Captain Denhys Gillam, one of the many heroes of the Battle of Britain.
The competition attracted a field of 60 pairs in the better ball Stableford format. The competitors enjoyed a beautiful Autumn day and a course still in super condition. The scoring was close but one pair eased away from the field to take the trophy. The results were as follows:
Winners – Paul & Leslie Perrin (Belton Woods) – 43 points
2nd – Ollie Mitchell & Ina Woods (Belton Park) – 40 points
3rd – Chris Mously & Sue Addis (Belton Park) – 40 points
4th – Jeff & Vicky Carr (Stanton on the Wolds) – 40 points
5th – Doug & Mo Poole (Brampton Park) – 40 points
6th – Keith & Yvonne Scarborough (Woodhall Spa) – 40 points
