Belton Park are delighted to see that not only is Junior Club Captain Tom Cooper playing well within the club, he is also performing magnificently on the county front too. Tom who only just turned 14 earlier this month, has recently been selected to represent Lincolnshire boys in their fixture against Leicestershire and Rutland at Spalding Golf Club. In the morning foursomes Tom partnered Callum Bruce to a 3 and 1 victory. In the afternoon he followed this up with a fantastic 1up victory in the singles. Despite Tom’s great efforts unfortunately Lincolnshire lost the overall fixture 11-7.
Tom has also been having great results in county events as an individual player. He joined fellow Belton juniors Ollie Mitchel and Alex Wright in playing in the Stamford Trophy and Nicky Molson Cup at Boston West on July 24th. Both Ollie and Alex had very credible results in shooting net 78 and 79 respectively. Tom however not only shot the equal lowest gross score of 77, but his net score of 67 won the competition by 4 shots.
All of this great play has been having a great effect on Tom’s handicap, in the last month it has been reduced from 11 down to 6. Well played Tom.
