Captain’s Blog of 09 July 2014

1. Captain’s Day

I start this blog by thanking all those members who supported my Captain’s Day. We had 176 golfers in 44 teams of 4 in the Gents Am Am and 10 ladies teams of 4 in the Texas Scramble. The weather gods were kind, the course was marvellous (many thanks to Lee and his greenkeepers) and the meal afterwards was enjoyed (thanks to Trina and the staff on duty in the kitchen and the bar).
Thank you to everyone who helped on the day, to make it a great memory for me.

The results were :

2. Team Matters

2.1 The Elsham Foursomes

Congratulations to the First Team on making the Elsham Finals again. The finals are played at Elsham on Sunday 17 August and support for the team will be welcomed. Unfortunately the finals clash with the playing of the Victory Cup but for those not playing in the Victory, the Elsham finals are well worth a visit.

2.2 Bramley Singles

We are still in this competition and I wish the players success. Hopefully there will be another final to go and support!

2.3 The League

The First Team had a comprehensive win over Toft and with Sleaford beating Blankney, we might just have a chance in the league.
The Second team is holding its own and I wish them continued success.

3. Captain’s Call – Thursday Evening 9 hole Golf & Supper

The last Captain’s Call will be on Thursday 31 July.
Thank you to those who have taken part.

4. Captain’s Away Day

The entry sheets will go up on the Captain’s notice board shortly.

5. Captains’ Ball

Planning is under way for the Captains’ Ball to be held on 27 September. Watch the Entertainments notice board for details.

6. Club Championships

I look forward to taking part in the Club Champs and to presenting the winners with their trophies after 36 holes of golf.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR CLUB DIARY AND THE NOTICE BOARDS TO MAKE SURE YOU DON’T MISS ANYTHING IN WHICH YOU’D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE.

I look forward as always to seeing you on and off the course.
