Captain’s Blog of 29th April 2014
“We are delighted that Rob has taken time out from his hectic schedule to write the second of his blog articles.”
The Daily Mail Competition
Unfortunately both the Ladies and the Gents teams are now out of this competition but congratulations to all who represented us so well.
The Elsham Foursomes
Well done to Captain Nigel Harris and his Elsham team for delivering a resounding win against Greetham Valley in the first round. I believe we are up against Elsham at home in the next round (subject to confirmation).
Nigel Harris’ First Team recorded a fine win over Toft away in their first battle of this year’s campaign. The score was 3 ½ to 2 ½ on a course which gives huge home advantage so this win is highly significant to our fortunes.
Both the First and second teams play Sleaford on Saturday 10th May, the first team at home and the second team away.
The second team has yet to open their season.
Captain’s Call – Thursday Evening 9 hole Golf & Supper
Tony Nickson(Vice Captain) and I are organising a weekly 9 hole and supper roll up on Thursday evenings at around 5:00PM. The first one is on Thursday 29 May and we invite you all to come along. I hope that you will try to play with golfers that are not in your normal groups as I want to encourage you to get to know the people outside of your usual playing circle. I encourage new members to join in and meet more members. We will play an any combination Better Ball Stableford competition and a meal will be served afterwards at a cost of only £5.00. The meal will be different each week and will be one of the tasty BPGC offerings. Do try and stay for the meal. I will present a bottle of wine as a prize for the winners each week.
Just a reminder to our new members that the New Members AM Am is on Sunday 18 May. I encourage you to participate in this relaxed event as it helps us to get to know you and vice versa. It’s also an opportunity for you to meet the captains and organisers of the various groups and teams and learn a little more about how to make the most of your membership of this wonderful club.
I look forward as always to seeing you on and off the course.
